Belize has become one of the most important birding destinations in the Caribbean. This area in particular has a superb environment for Yucatan and Belizean Endemic species.
Some species you can expect are Yucatan Woodpecker, Gray-throated Chat, Black Catbird, Rose-throated Tanager, Blue Bunting, Orange Oriole, Yellow-lored Parrot, Yucatan Jay, Yucatan Flycatcher, Black-throated Bobwhite, and Yucatan Poorwill amongst many others.
The day starts with an early departure and packed breakfast. Cruise towards the Shipstern Conservation and Management area via a hand cranked ferry. The sights along the road with views of puff birds and reddish egrets are simply breathtaking.
Enjoy a local lunch at “Crabby’s” by the seaside and relax to the breeze of the Caribbean.
Take some time after lunch to target any species left for the area before heading back to El Gran Mestizo for a relaxing evening.
